Yeah...evidently, it's going to be all about having a rhyming scheme. And just like Hip-Hop...it doesn't take wit to rhyme, yo'. If anything, the compulsion to rhyme is going to squelch the creative boundaries of the comments/percpectives...it's going to be limiting. So, that's the ruin of this. Sadly. It was lots of fun. This rhyming sing-song thing is going to get annoying. Quickly. MyPalMike got a bit too clever-clever and put too many ingredients into the soup---and it subtracted instead of adding. Eh...my opinion anyway. We'll see.

Here are the reasons why it ain't so bad:
a) It is basically evocative of the three-panel caption system of the MEP site from which this one was birthed
b) It allows Mike to not have to endure endless comments about not updating/choosing a winner
c) Um...those two are good enough.
There are some kinks...It doesn't seem conducive to commentary or interaction, which is unfortunate, but I think people could easily just leave comments. There is nothing that limits a person to having to "rhyme," as thogwummpy's bad stereotype suggests. Rather, one is only limited by their creativity ---and I don't mind the challenge of having to compose a "story," so to speak, in order to link the pictures.

Thanks for 'splainin, ajiav. Yeah, basically I've now pretty much ripped off the old 3-panel www.mostemailed.com ("mep") site.
You can look at some of that site's history in the internet archive:
http://web.archive.org/web/20031026044026/http://www.mostemailed.com/
We captioned there for a couple years and it was pretty darn fun and funny most days.
And rhyming is not necessary. Indeed, it was quite rare on mep. I think there have just been some unfortunate random photos so far. I trust that it will get better.

Eh...well, it is what it is. I haven't found it particulary inspiring; or witty...and the photos haven't been evocative of much humor. The enterprise strikes me as dull. BUT, different strokes for different folks! As far as the rhyming/sing song deal...the initial winning comments veered in that direction---you know, like saying "a man...a plan...a canal". (Snore.) The three panel format begs for a comment to be wedged into part of a scheme/theme dependent upon the other photos; and ergo is less free flowing. Like I said, it's limiting. To date, the submissions haven't been particularly clever either. I might check in from time to time to see if it's evolving---but I'm going to sniff around and see if there's another caption contest site that's worthy. Hey, everyone has their own cup of tea...and the new format simply ain't mine---it doesn't serve the bizarre perspectives my mind generates.
